Capability overview · Prepared for Transgrid · October 2026
Powering the people behind the grid.
Transgrid is building the backbone of Australia’s energy transition. That takes thousands of new people, new skills and the same uncompromising standard of safety. This is a short journey through how Liberate helps energy and resources organisations get their people ready, and the work that shows we have done it before.

Theme 1 of 5
We don’t have your brief yet. These are the five things we hear most from energy and resources leaders, and how we help.
01 · SAFETY
Rehearse the high-risk moment, not just read about it.
Where we helpLive lines, heights and switching leave no room for a first attempt in the field. We build practice that feels like the real thing, from VR and 360° simulation to scenario decisions, so the first time is never the real time.
Apprentices, internationally qualified tradespeople, contractors and graduates all arrive with different starting points.
Where we helpWe design learning that recognises what people already know, spends time where the real gaps are, and gets them productive and safe sooner.
Capture what your experts know before it walks out the gate.
Where we helpDecades of field knowledge sit with a small number of people. We turn it into video, guides and facilitator kits your trainers can use, so expertise scales instead of retiring.

04 · CHANGE
Rules, systems and technology keep moving.
Where we helpNew regulation, new systems, new ways of working. We make change clear and practical. And we keep compliance learning story-led and engaging, focused on what people actually need to know to do the job well.
Where we helpWe are problem solvers. We design learning to fix a real problem, and we start by consulting your people. Our understanding of how people learn, combined with your understanding of the Transgrid landscape, is what makes a solution work.

The best safety training doesn’t feel like training. It feels like the job.

CONSULTINGConsulting services
Consulting
It starts with listening.
Before we design a single module, we get to know your people, your sites and how the work really happens. A short consulting phase turns a broad need into a solution built for Transgrid, and you keep everything it produces.
Liberate discovery workshop
01Discovery
Time with the people closest to the work.
Capability and L&D teams, technical trainers, field crews, supervisors, project leaders and new starters. We learn what good looks like on the job, and where people get stuck today.

02Training review
Review what you run today against what the field needs.
We audit programs, materials, assessments and learning data, then confirm scope with stakeholders: what to keep, what to fix and what to cut.

03Role mapping · capability framework
Define what “ready” means for each role.
Map each role to its tasks, competencies and proficiency levels, so training, assessment and coaching all point at the same standard.

04High-level design · governance
Design the learning architecture and the rules that keep it consistent.
The right blend of digital, immersive, facilitated and on-the-job learning, plus the governance that protects quality and safety as programs scale.

Consulting we have delivered
Large operational workforces. Real results.
Two recent engagements with big frontline teams, safety-critical work and training that had to match how people actually work.
Coles Group
Distribution centre training review
Coles needed its distribution centre training to be compliant, operationally relevant and not overloading staff. Safety, SOP alignment and training efficiency were the key concerns.
Compliance & SOP review. Audited safety and operational training for alignment with internal procedures and risk requirements.
Discovery-driven evaluation. Discovery sessions, surveys and benchmarking to assess effectiveness and find redundancies.
Strategic roadmap. Clear, actionable recommendations to streamline learning and focus on real performance needs.
Training mapped to operational requirements and SOPs
Reduced learning fatigue by removing unnecessary training
A clear plan for ongoing training governance and improvement
Orica
Global competency framework
Orica’s competency framework was outdated and disconnected from how employees actually worked. Training expectations were unclear, and content was hard to find and not role-aligned.
Role-centric stakeholder engagement. Interviews and workshops across teams to define practical competencies aligned with real responsibilities.
Framework simplification. Complex models replaced with Foundational, Proficient and Advanced tiers mapped to operational needs.
Accessible learning pathways. Existing training mapped to competencies and made available through SharePoint.
A competency model that matched job roles and site needs
Easier access to relevant, role-specific training
A structure that enabled better planning, governance and capability development
I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Liberate team across my last three roles at NAB, Australia Post, and Orica. In every engagement, they’ve consistently delivered a positive experience and executed projects with strength and reliability.

Case study · a multi-year partnership
The network partner that keeps coming back.
CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy run poles, wires and field crews across Victoria. Our partnership has grown one module at a time into the learning behind their induction, safety, conduct and regulatory change.
Year after year, CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy come back to us for the learning their people rely on. That includes Victoria’s Emergency Backstop mechanism for rooftop solar, a regulatory change made clear and practical for field staff, and on-site video with Beon Energy Solutions’ own crews.

Immersive · SBB Swiss Federal Railways
Switch off and earth a high-voltage line. In a classroom.
High-voltage training often means shutting down live operations. For SBB we used drone-based 3D modelling and 360° imagery to recreate dangerous track areas as a standalone VR application. Crews practise switching off and earthing overhead lines, with every task tracked and no risk.
